Summer tour: Dolphin watching and Snorkeling
There is a special way to experience the sea of Alghero in summer: letting yourself be rocked by the waves, exploring a coastline full of life, and meeting its most fascinating inhabitants. This four‑hour excursion is designed for those who seek an authentic, relaxing, and environmentally respectful experience, where the beauty of the landscape blends with the excitement of dolphin watching and the discovery of the underwater world.
We will navigate along one of the most scenic coastlines in Sardinia, accompanied by the scientists of MareTerra NGO. on board, our dolphin sighting success rate exceeds 80%, which is exceptionally high for such elusive animals. As we explore the gulf, they will explain how dolphins are studied in the wild and what secrets these waters hold. When we spot a group of dolphins, we will approach them with full respect for their natural behavior, following the HQWW® (High Quality Whale Watching®) code of conduct to minimize any disturbance caused by our presence. It will be a moment of careful and silent observation, during which you will learn who the individuals are through photo‑identification and witness their social interactions. Meanwhile, you will also see the researchers at work during data collection.
On board, you will have the chance to listen to the sounds dolphins use to communicate, recorded with a hydrophone during bioacoustic research activities — a unique way to enter, for a moment, their world made of sound.
During the excursion we will stop within the Capo Caccia – Isola Piana Marine Protected Area for a guided snorkeling session. Masks and fins will be available on board, and together we will explore the seabed and its biodiversity. If you don’t have much experience, don’t worry: our guides will always be by your side to ensure safety and comfort as you immerse yourself in this world waiting to be discovered.
Let’s not forget the possibility of meeting the noisy yellow‑legged gulls, the swift Mediterranean shearwaters, the majestic Scopoli’s shearwaters gliding just above the waves, the tireless storm‑petrels, the cormorants constantly searching for fish, as well as rays, swordfish, and tuna that sometimes reveal their presence by leaping out of the water. At times the sea may seem monotonous when observed from the surface, but it is always full of life and that is how we strive to protect it.
The rest is up to nature: the deep blue sea, the towering cliffs, and the summer light that turns every view into a painting. An experience that brings together science, nature, and wonder.

- ◊ Departures: morning 9:30, afternoon 2:30.
- ◊ Duration: 4 hours.
- ◊ Prices: Adult € 65 - Children (under 12) € 35. This tour is suitable for kids from 5 years old.
- ◊ What's included: entrance to the Marine Protected Area of Capo Caccia and Isola Piana, marine biologists on board, certified interpretive nature guides, guide with lifeguard certificate, snorkeling vests, mask and fins for guided snorkeling, booklets for species identification and other information material.
- ◊ Restrictions: this activity is not suitable for children under 5 years old, people with heart conditions, respiratory problems or other serious medical issues, pregnant women, guests over 75, and people with back problems.
- ◊ Point of departure: in Banchina Rafael Catardi, in front of Ciclo Express rental bikes, one of the crew waits for you (go to the map).
- ◊ Important: to find a seat available in July and August, please book in advance.
- ◊ Suggested equipment: we suggest 1 litre of water, beach towel, swimsuit, sun cream, sunglasses, sunhat, and a light jacket or windbreaker in case of cold winds.
- ◊ Behaviour on board: we strongly respect the environment thus animals feeding and any behaviours that disturb dolphins and other wildlife are not allowed. It is forbidden to try to touch them.
- ◊ The crew explain the safety rules before departure.
- ◊ The tour can be cancelled in case of bad weather, strong wind and rough sea, a mechanical issue or in case the minimum number of people is missing.
